Doug Rauch
Doug Rauch was a true supernova in human form. A musician of extraordinary talent, he was lauded (and universally adored) by so many who knew him--to this day. He was, by all accounts, one of those beings who exuded enthusiasm for life no matter what he was doing--a person whose joy and creative instincts were infectious to anyone graced by his presence. Where his boundless enthusiasm could have benefitted from some boundaries was in his reckless experimentation and na ïve trust of the harmlessness of his dance with recreational drugs--which ended up killing him at a tragically young age. Doug was a New York City born bass player who was lured away from his hometown (to San Francisco) by Carlos Santana and Michael Shrieve. The Santana core members happened to see Doug perform on stage as one of the musicians in the band playing behind The Voices of East Harlem.
